Canon’s “PowerShot ZOOM” is a new concept telescope type camera that allows you to enjoy “watching” and “shooting” with one item. It has a super-telephoto shooting function with an optical zoom equivalent to a focal length of 100mm / 400mm and a digital zoom equivalent to 800mm in the 35mm format.

100mm equivalent (telescope magnification is about 1.2 times)

400mm equivalent (telescope magnification is about 4.8 times)

Equivalent to 800mm digital zoom (telescope magnification approx. 9.6x)

Although it has a super-telephoto area equivalent to 400mm, it is compact and palm-sized, and weighs only 145g. It’s easy to carry around, so you can take it out quickly and observe creatures such as birds, and take photos as and when you like.

It is equipped with a 1 / 3-inch CMOS sensor and has a maximum of approximately 12.1 million effective pixels. High-speed continuous shooting of up to about 10 frames / sec is possible. In addition, the video is compatible with full HD (29.97fps / 25.00fps / 23.98fps).

It is equipped with an “instantaneous step zoom” that allows you to instantly switch the zoom with the touch of a button, and smooth AF tracking is possible even when switching zooms, so you won’t miss a chance for a good photo. You can also shoot still images while watching the live view video displayed on your smartphone by linking using the dedicated app.

It is a camera that allows you to “take” your favorite moments while enjoying “watching” in various situations such as watching sports and athletic meets for children, as well as outdoors activities such as bird watching.

The selling price at the Canon online shop is 35750 yen. The release is scheduled for mid-November.
